Privacy Policy
We take your privacy very seriously. That's the entire point of our application.
Our Privacy Commitment
Secure Mail Client was built from the ground up with privacy as its foundational principle. We believe that your communications should be yours alone, and we've designed our software accordingly.
Data We Don't Collect
Unlike many applications, we pride ourselves on what we don't collect:
- We do not collect the content of your emails
- We do not store your encryption keys
- We do not track your usage patterns
- We do not gather your personal information
- We do not maintain logs of your communications
- We do not use analytics or tracking cookies
Local Processing
Secure Mail Client operates entirely on your local device. All encryption and decryption happens locally, meaning your data never leaves your computer unencrypted. Your private keys remain exclusively under your control.
Email Provider Connection
To function, Secure Mail Client needs to connect to your email provider's servers (like Gmail, Yahoo, or others). This connection is made using OAuth or similar secure authentication methods, and we do not store your credentials. Your relationship with your email provider is governed by their privacy policy.
Premium Subscriptions
For users who opt for premium features, we process payments through cryptocurrency transactions. We deliberately designed this system to maximize privacy:
- No personal information is required for payment
- No credit card or banking details are collected
- Transactions are verified cryptographically without identifying the payer
- No subscription management portal that could leak information
Automatic Updates
The application may check for updates, which involves making a connection to our servers or GitHub. These checks only transmit basic information needed to verify if an update is available, such as your current version number. No personal information is sent.
Third-Party Services
Secure Mail Client may interact with the following third-party services:
- Your email provider (to send and receive emails)
- Public key servers (to look up encryption keys)
- GitHub (for application updates)
Each of these services has their own privacy policies that govern how they handle data.
Open Source Transparency
Our application is open-source, meaning anyone can inspect our code to verify our privacy claims. We believe this transparency is essential for a truly privacy-focused application.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of any changes by updating the date at the bottom of this policy and, for significant changes, we may provide additional notification within the application.
